The Dell XPS 13 ‘ultrabook', first introduced at the Consumer Electronics Show in January, has arrived in New Zealand, with the manufacturer matching the device's competitive specs with an equally competitive price.

$1699 will be enough to buy an entry-level XPS 13, which boasts an Intel Core i5 processor, a 128GB solid state hard drive, 4GB of RAM and a 13-inch screen. In contrast, a similarly-specced MacBook Air will sell for $1999.

Dell is also offering two boosted configurations: a Core i5/256GB model for $2199, and a Core i7/256GB model for $2399.

All models come with business services like access to Dell's ProSupport technical assistance service and Configuration Services pre-shipping customisation.
