Dick Smith recalling portable DVD/Media Players
Fri, 21st Dec 2012
FYI, this story is more than a year old

Dick Smith is recalling four Dick Smith branded portable DVD/media players that were sold in stores across Australia and New Zealand between November 2009 to July 2012.

The four products are being recalled due to a potential safety hazard where the internal lithium-ion rechargeable battery may overheat and pose a fire risk.

The electronics company says the recall is being performed as a precautionary measure as external testing has identified that in certain circumstances the internal lithium-ion battery may overheat and cause a fire hazard.

At this stage, from the range of products currently sold at Dick Smith stores, only the above nominated portable DVD/Media Players are affected.

Customers are asked to immediately stop using this product and return it to any Dick Smith store for a full refund.

Once removed from the packaging this product can be identified by the Dick Smith logo on top of the unit, D6200, D6201, and D6203 and on the top lid of the GE4203. The Catalogue No. can be found on the rear or base of the unit.

"Dick Smith's first priority is our customers and we apologise for any inconvenience caused," the company said in a statement.

The products and model numbers are listed below:
