Have you got the Tech Factor?

FYI, this story is more than a year old

An X Factor style show aimed at aspiring tech entrepreneurs is being discussed by music heavyweights Simon Cowell and Will.i.am.

The rapper told the British press he had met with Cowell to consider the prospect of the project, named X Factor for Tech, last month.

Despite Cowell's experienced background in the music and entertainment industry, the Black Eyed Peas frontman was last year appointed as Intel's director of creative innovation, and believes the show would create "lots" of jobs.

“We’re working on a project called X Factor for Tech — and it’s going to be out of this world,” Will.i.am told The Sun newspaper.

“Singing and performance create a couple of jobs. But this will create lots.

"It’s about getting in touch with youth and giving them a platform to express themselves — whether that’s in science or mathematics.

"Simon’s cool. We had a wicked dinner a couple of weeks ago and it was very nice.”

The idea, aimed at finding the next Bill Gates or Steve Jobs, has been well received in the industry with many experts supporting anything which encourages young people to develop ideas and create jobs.
