Pandora, the internet radio service, has announced it will be available in New Zealand on Chromecast, the TV-connected device by Google that delivers online audio and video entertainment to television screens.

In order to make the radio service available on Chromecast, the Pandora Android and iOS apps have been updated to include a cast button for one-touch streaming to a TV.

“Our mission is to provide the best personalised radio experience to our listeners, anytime, anywhere," says Rick Gleave, Pandora ANZ, director of business development.

"New Zealanders are listening to more than 12 hours of radio a week and we are continually innovating and investing in new platforms that help us seamlessly deliver access to Pandora across a broad range of connected devices,” he says.

“Pandora is playing in living rooms whilst listeners are carrying out a multitude of tasks simultaneously around the home. Having Pandora now on Google Chromecast means users have another easy access point to a better listening experience direct from their TV,” says Gleave.

The content of Chromecast is launched from a mobile device but streams from the cloud, allowing users to use their mobile device while Pandora plays on the TV.

Users have the same core Pandora functions such as play, pause, thumb and skip.

Chromecast support is currently available for Android smartphones and tablets, as well as iPads and iPhones. In addition to Pandora, it supports YouTube, Google Play Movies and Google Play Music.
