Skip the queues this Boxing Day thanks to Dick Smith
Tue, 24th Dec 2013
FYI, this story is more than a year old

For shoppers wanting to save time and avoid queues this Boxing Day, Dick Smith is offering customers the option to skip checkout lines with its scan-to-buy mobile app.

Dick Smith’s mobile app allows customers to shop directly from catalogues and print ads simply by scanning a QR code.

For the first time this Boxing Day, Dick Smith’s top sale items featured in newspaper ads and in-store flyers will include a scan-to-buy code so customers can skip the checkout queue and buy direct from their smartphones.

For those wanting to get a head start, Dick Smith will also be launching its Boxing Day sale early, with discounts available online from 6pm on Christmas eve.

According to Nick Abboud, CEO of Dick Smith, Australia and New Zealand, it’s important to offer customers a range of shopping options on Boxing Day.

“We want to offer customers a way to shop that best suits their needs, whether that’s in store, online, via Click and Collect or now via our mobile app," Abboud says.

“For the first time this year, Dick Smith customers can now choose to skip the checkout line completely on Boxing Day.

"Instead of spending time in a queue, they can pick up a flyer in store, go have a coffee, put their feet up and make their Boxing Day purchases from their mobile phone. It’s just another option we’re offering customers, in addition to the existing online and in-store shopping experience.

“We know our customers love picking up a Boxing Day bargain and are very proud to offer a range of new ways they can do that.\

"Of course, for those who still prefer the in-store shopping experience and want to take their purchases home straight away, we’ll have plenty of Boxing Day sale items available in stores."
