FYI, this story is more than a year old

With over 30 million active small businesses currently using Facebook, including 19 million on mobile, SMBs are continuing to utilise social media as a key channel to build business.

A key highlight of the company’s latest financial and usage reports, the social media giant claims Facebook use is on the rise amongst blossoming businesses.

Citing Chumbak, a maker of India-inspired products, as an example, the company says the business uses Facebook its leading marketing channel, which is responsible for 35% of online revenue and 38% of website traffic.

“Their Facebook Ads deliver a 5X return on advertising spend and have helped the company grow to more than 150 employees in three offices,” the report adds.

With over 1.5 million active advertisers, Facebook continues to make progress across all segments of marketers, reporting a rise in mobile advertising revenue (151% growth), which subsequently represents 63% of total advertising revenue.

Generally speaking, in Q2 2014, total revenue was US$2.9 billion, an increase of 61% compared with $1.8 billion in the second quarter of 2013.

"We had a good second quarter," said Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook founder and CEO.

"Our community has continued to grow, and we see a lot of opportunity ahead as we connect the rest of the world."
