FYI, this story is more than a year old

Recent success in the ultra-affordable Chromebook market now sees Acer enlarging its 11 and 13 inch display models to a somewhat regular size of 15 inches.

As it is based on the brand new Intel Broadwell CPU architecture it will be one of the fastest Chromebooks on the market whilst still offering a respectable eight hour battery, which is ideal for the education market where charging during the day is not always a simple task. The recommended retail value for the units will start at US $249.99. Broadwell is the successor to the popular Haswell chips found in current range intel i3 machines. It is thought that these new chromebooks will be a demonstration point of the new Broadwell chipset at the upcoming International CES in Las Vegas on January 6th. The Chromebook also sports a 32GB SSD storage, 4GB RAM, a webcam, 802.11ac WiFi, Bluetooth 4, SD card reader and USB 3 and 2 with an HDMI output. As with all other Chromebooks, it will run Google's Chrome OS and will automatically be updated to the latest version of Chrome OS via over-the-air updates, ensuring the latest security and features are available. It is unclear when these units will be available to the New Zealand market, however Acer have stated that they will be refreshing the current line of 13 inch touchscreen Chromebooks.
