Design awards prove printing isn't dead
Tue, 7th Oct 2014
FYI, this story is more than a year old

There is nothing quite like beautiful and innovative design and Brother Industries, Ltd has been recognised for just this with their printers that make old school, cool.

The Good Design Award specifically selects products that enrich lives through exceptional design. Winners are selected from about 3,000 submissions from around the world and are widely recognised.

Brother has long been a leading provider of print and imaging equipment, and this year two products have snapped up awards. The business inkjet all-in-one printer and black and white laser printer were the two winning products, notable for their sleek and usable design. The printers were winners alongside buildings, cars, cameras and apps, and held their own.

Graham Walshe, Executive Chairman of Brother International (NZ) said, “These Award wins acknowledge that Brother continues to pave the way in innovation, technology and quality, all while reinforcing our ‘At your side’ customer commitment."

This is not the first time Brother products have been recognised at the awards. In fact, it is the 22nd consecutive year they have won, and they have 185 wins in total, including these two. The first win for Brother was back in 1960, with a home sewing machine.

In the 50 years following this first win, the company has continued to create high-quality sewing machines as well as print and imaging equipment and labelling hardware. Also passionate about sustainability, the Brother recycling programme in New Zealand is known as the most extensive program by the company in the world.

Matthew Stroud, COO at Brother International (NZ) Limited said, “We strive to provide products which are user friendly in their design and innovativeness, as well as environmentally conscious.”

He confirmed the company was “absolutely thrilled” to receive the award and it will only prove to motivate the team to remain focused and committed to creating award winning products for customers.
