Facebook in space: Zuckerberg to call ISS astronauts
Mon, 30th May 2016
FYI, this story is more than a year old

Taking connectivity out of this world, NASA has revealed Facebook founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg will host a live call with three astronauts aboard the International Space Station, using Facebook Live.

The Earth-to-space call will take place using Facebook Live video with NASA astronauts Tim Kopra and Jeff Williams, and ESA's (European Space Agency's) Tim Peake, who are currently living and working aboard the space station.

The call is set to take place over 20 minutes and will see Zuckerberg question the astronauts using questions submitted on NASA's Facebook page.

According to NASA's Facebook page, the interview will see Zuckerberg ask questions such as, ‘What is it like to live and work in microgravity orbiting the Earth? What sorts of out-of-this-world science is underway in the space station's laboratories? How does the research in space help prepare to send humans on a Journey to Mars?'

The call is to take place on June 1 12:55 p.m. EDT (4:55 AM Monday, NZ time) and can be watched on NASA's Facebook page.

The International Space Station serves as the world's leading laboratory for conducting cutting-edge microgravity research, and is the primary platform for technology development and testing in space to enable human and robotic exploration of destinations beyond low-Earth orbit, including asteroids and Mars.
