Far Cry 3 creator gets 'cocky' over game
Fri, 10th May 2013
FYI, this story is more than a year old

In a revealing Q&A session yesterday, the creator of Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon talked about his inspirations, the importance of taunting, and the solidity of his genitalia.

Dean Evans, creative director of Blood Dragon which is one of the most original stand-alone expansions ever, took to social network slash time vortex Reddit yesterday for an AMA (ask me anything) session.

As ever, some of the questions were idiotic while others were profound.

In terms of inspiration, Evans dropped a whole lot of kick-ass 80s nostalgia, but also claimed his secret was time travel.

“My future self travelled back from 2043 to let me know what I should do in life. Kinda like Biff. But less buff.” His favourite 80s reference? “Robocop’s gun. I honestly had a lil roboner when that went in.”

If you think you’ve already heard enough about one man’s penis for today, then you won’t want to read the next paragraph.

When asked what the hardest part about making a game like Blood Dragon was, Evans had no hesitations.

“I think the hardest part was my penis.” Charming. To provide some background (probably should have done this before all the penis talk), Blood Dragon takes the open-world island setting of Far Cry 3 and places it in a retro-futuristic world.

In the year 2007, actually. Roaming the island are blood dragons as well as legions of enemies, and players must kill the baddies, get the girl and save the day.

Kicking it old school. One unusual feature of the game is the ability for players to gesticulate aggressively (read: pull the finger) which was evidently an important addition for Evans.

“I’m a big believer in player expression. I used to taunt the f*%k out of people in Unreal Tournament. Would be awesome to have different taunts...SUCK IT!!!”

All of those exclamation marks are his, I swear. To sum up the game in its entirety, one Reddit user simply asked: why blood dragons?

“Blood sausages would have been strange,” replied Evans. Cool.
