FYI, this story is more than a year old

Android fanatics, your wait is over with the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 edge hitting the shelves at New Zealand retailers today.

Noel Leeming, which one of a number of retailers offering the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge, says the launch has been much anticipated. Selected Noel Leeming stores will stock the smartphones.

Noel Leeming says with a dedicated game control centre, gameplay recording and the S7 and S7 edge's powerful processors, ‘mobile gaming just got highly realistic'.

The new flagship model features improved low-light performance, with a professional-grade Dual Pixel Sensor to take ‘crisp, clear photos in the dark – the first smartphone camera to incorporate the technology.

Both the S7 and S7 edge are water resistant with inside components sealed while keeping micro USB ports and earphone jacks open to avoid the need to fiddle with extra caps or covers.

If you're wanting to head into the water, the devices can handle 30 minutes and 1.5 meters under.

Jason Bell, Noel Leeming executive general manager for merchandise, says in being part of the New Zealand S7 launch, the retailer is cementing its place as the market leaders in consumer electronics.

“We're delighted to offer our customers the latest technology and help them get the best from their products,” Bell says.

Noel Leeming is offering the models on a 2degrees post-paid plan, but warns stock is limited.

While retailers are gearing up for a rush of consumers eager to upgrade to the new device, the commercial market is also showing interest, with Samsung New Zealand announcing it has signed its first commercial deal for the S7, with Opus International Consulting snapping up 1600 devices for its staff.
