Polaroid-style prints for iPhone and Android in the works

FYI, this story is more than a year old

Hardware start up Prynt is working on an exciting new smartphone case that contains a built-in printer to instantly get a copy of your photos.

The small French startup has been working on turning smartphones into a miniature Polaroid camera since the start of the year. Prynt's plan is to bring back the instant camera in the form of a  smart phone case (the smart phone acts as the camera, the case is the printer).

The current version takes about 50 seconds from photo to printed paper, using Zink ink-less technology. The current prototype holds just one sheet of paper.

The planned consumer version will hold 10-30 sheets of paper and taker few than 30 seconds to print thanks to better hardware integration and a direct physical connection between the phone and case.

The company says no pairing is required – no WiFi, no Bluetooth. Users simply have to plug the device into their smartphone, snap a picture, and then print instantly; “any time, anywhere”.
