Skyscanner releases improved version of Flights app
Thu, 8th Oct 2015
FYI, this story is more than a year old

Online travel booking company Skyscanner has released a refreshed version of its popular app, which the company says will overhaul the user experience.

According to recent Skyscanner data, more than half of Kiwis (53%) use their mobile phones and tablets to search for flights. However, the booking process itself remains a lean forward experience with 60% of Kiwis booking on desktop.

In response, Skyscanner has updated its Flights app to improve user experience and simplifying the flight search process.

The update is the first major change to the app's design and functionality since its launch in 2011.

All the existing features remain in the update, but the app remembers recent searches that are saved to the home screen, and will sync across other connected devices with the Skyscanner Flight App.

Users can now select “Everywhere” as their travel destination to browse through flights to top destinations listed in price order.

Low cost flights and deals are now available to view on the app, which the company says is designed for budget-conscious travellers and last minute bookers.

Skyscanner has also introduced push notifications to the apps allowing users to receive price alerts, and the update now includes improved filters for searching.

The Skyscanner Flights app can be downloaded from the iTunes or Google Play stores. Current users will receive a notification to install the new update to upgrade from the current version.
