This year's Armageddon Expo arguably could have been the biggest one yet when it comes to video games.

2013 has been a huge year for video games as both Sony and Microsoft will be releasing their respective next-gen video game consoles in November.

Armageddon Expo attendees had a chance to play hands-on with both the PS4 and Xbox One.

People that may have attended Digital Nationz earlier in the year may have already played on these systems, although Armageddon Expo is a more recognised event.

My friends didn't attend Digital Nationz so they were excited to play on the PS4 and Xbox One for the very first time at the Armageddon Expo.

Sony had a bigger display this time around. They had a huge screen that was showing off platforming game Knack in all its glory.

I already had a chance to play the game a few weeks back, and it's a game that I'm sure kids will enjoy playing. In terms of other PS4 games, there were also a host of independent titles, Driveclub and Killzone: Shadow Fall.

It wasn't all about the PS4 at the Sony stand. Attendees also got a chance to play the recently released (and excellent) Beyond: Two Souls. Gran Turismo 6 looks lovely even though it's on the PS3. Even compared to Driveclub, I feel Gran Turismo 6 can still hold its own in terms of graphics. There were also lots and lots of PS Vita consoles for people to play on too as well as a DJ playing some music to make it feel more like a party-atmosphere.

Microsoft had a similar display setup much like they did with Digital Nationz. There was still a huge screen for people to play Killer Instinct. The disappointing thing for me is that they still had the short Forza Motorsport 5 demo.

I would have liked to have played on another track than the short one that was offered here and at Digital Nationz. FIFA 14 was at the Microsoft stand playable on Xbox One. I must say the game looks okay, but not a huge leap in terms of visuals. Gameplay wise, not many people will notice any differences from the current Xbox 360 version either...

Nintendo was also at Armageddon Expo too. Not only were that showing off the 3DS, but also a ton of Wii U titles. I recently bought the original Wii, but the Wii U's graphics are amazing in comparison. The brightness and colorful nature of The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker HD on the Wii U was a sight to see.

Another highlight from the Wii U stand was Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze. The game retains the classic style of 2D gameplay, but is graphically the best looking Donkey Kong game ever made.

Unlike at Digital Nationz, fans had a chance to play both Call of Duty: Ghosts and Battlefield 4. Sadly, I only managed to go to Armageddon on Monday and the lines were too long to play both games.

I didn't have time to wait around so didn't have a chance to play any of them. If you are going to an event like this, be prepared to arrive early you'll have to wait for long queues in order to play the most popular titles.

In my opinion, Armageddon Expo's video game displays would have been more interesting had Digital Nationz never existed. People that went to Digital Nationz would have already experienced/played on the PS4 and Xbox One. Not to mention the queues weren't so long at Digital Nationz either.

Still, Armageddon Expo had more games on display and more room to showcase more things too. Anyway, it should be an exciting time to be a gamer right now with both the PS4 and Xbox One releasing in November!

In terms of non-video game content, Armageddon had a lot to offer as well. There were many attendees dressed up as their favorite characters from any movie/TV show/video game you could name. Not to mention there were a lot of stores selling some cool stuff such as t-shirts, toys, collectibles and more.

My favorite part of the entire show however was that they managed to get the actual Man of Steel costume. Yes, this was the exact same Superman suit that Henry Cavill wore in the recent movie.

Too bad it wasn't for sale as I would have bought it, although it would have been outside of price range anyway...

Overall, Armageddon Expo was a success with over 60,000 attendees across the long weekend. It is one of the largest expos in all of Australasia and we can be sure that the event will be here to stay for years to come.
