Android App of the Week - Brain Age Test
Thu, 6th Sep 2012
FYI, this story is more than a year old

This is a really simple, straightforward memory game that doesn’t have much variety – yet it’s addictive as ever.

In each level, a number of bubbles with numbers in them appear for a short period of time and then disappear. You then need to tap each bubble in ascending order.

If you do that correctly, you go on to the next round where there are more bubbles to remember.

You are allowed three “lives” and with each life lost you drop back to the previous level. Once you run out of lives, the game calculates your “brain age” and you can see how good your short term memory is. Sounds simple enough right?

Obviously the more you play it, the better you’ll be. If you play a few rounds all at once, you’re improving your short term memory as you go, so you’ll get a better brain age, hopefully improving each time you play.

Now I’m not too sure about the scientific side of it as I don’t know if it really can calculate your brain age or not, but surely if you were worried about that you’d be looking somewhere besides a free game application.

It’s a great game for kids to improve their memory skills, but it’s also great for adults to pass the time and give you some self-gratification.

It’s really fun to play against people you know too. Well, until their memory starts to look better than yours!

The reason I like this game is because you’re really using your brain to play. It can be quite challenging and depending on how good your memory is, you could play for ages or just for a bit if you’ve got a couple of minutes to kill.

The game is very repetitive and there’s nothing fancy about it; nothing changes except the level of difficulty, so it might not be a permanent fixture on your phone. But give it a go – see how old your brain is!
