Android App of the Week - Kindle for Android
Thu, 22nd Nov 2012
FYI, this story is more than a year old

If you’re like me and you’ve been hanging out for what seems like forever for someone to buy you a Kindle, the Kindle for Android App is a perfect substitute until your next birthday.

Get books, magazines and newspapers right onto your phone, and download free books or pay for them from the Kindle Store.

But the best feature hands down is the built-in dictionary however.

I can thank the old ‘always read with a dictionary next to you’ trick for my amazeballs vocabulary, so the fact that you can instantly look up a definition while reading is just awesome. Even better, you can go link-crazy by doing further research via Wikipedia. All on one app!

If you are lucky and happen to have a Kindle as well, the Kindle for Android app allows you to sync your books across all your devices, right where you left off. Handy.

Of course the only thing you will have to get used to is if you are reading it on your phone, so the screen size isn’t the best.

But it’s really handy to have books on your phone when you’re waiting around for something, when you don’t have a book on you and you don’t want to lug around a tablet or laptop.

And the great thing about Kindle is that you can sample books before you buy them, which is great for all you commitment-phobes, or you poor suckers who got roped into buying Twilight or 50 Shades.

There are heaps of books to choose from and there’s heaps of free stuff, so just go for it. I’m sure you’ll be addicted in no time.
