Apple grows PC market share
Tue, 20th Jul 2010
FYI, this story is more than a year old

Global growth in the PC market has seen Apple's New Zealand market share reach more than 10% for the second time ever.

According to BusinessDay, out of eight major PC vendors, only Apple, Asus, Toshiba and Acer saw gains in market share for the March quarter when compared to the previous quarter.

IDC Analyst Liam Gunson said, “We continue to see portable PCs being the main growth area of the market and a lot of desktop to notebook migration happening, particularly within the consumer and small to medium business markets."

Figures released yesterday from the IDC revealed that the global PC market grew 22.4% in the second quarter of 2010.

It said that Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) remained strong but growth in the US and APAC was “slightly behind projections”.

Apple announced today that iPad will go on sale in New Zealand this Friday (July 23rd).
