FYI, this story is more than a year old

Ubisoft has announced that the PlayStation 3-exclusive Assassin's Creed Brotherhood beta will kick off from October 4th.

The beta keys can only be obtained by pre-ordering the PlayStation 3 version of the game. Ubisoft has advised that the New Zealand allocation of beta keys has been met, so you should check with your retailer at the time of pre-order to ensure that you can get your hands on one of the last remaining codes.

The beta will consist of two different gameplay modes, with players given the choice of nine different characters.

Both modes will be playable on two different maps: Rome and Castel Gandolfo. The two gameplay modes are:

  • Wanted - challenges players to get the higher score by killing their assigned targets and escaping their hunters in clever ways.
  • Alliance - allows players to compete cooperatively in teams of two, fulfill contracts and confuse enemies in tandem.
Assassin's Creed Brotherhood is scheduled for release on November 9th for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. A PC version will follow early next year.
