Aucklanders to enjoy free wi-fi during RWC
Thu, 18th Aug 2011
FYI, this story is more than a year old

Aucklanders will have access to free high-speed internet for 90 minutes a day during the Rugby World Cup, thanks to a partnership between wi-fi operator Tomizone, online directory service Localist, and the Auckland Council.

Access will be limited to three sessions of 30 minutes per wi-fi device, accessible from access points at entertainment and recreation areas, transport hubs, RWC venues, certain main streets, and on selected public transport.

Auckland Mayor, Len Brown, says, "Securing sponsorship to provide free wi-fi on the expanded Auckland network is great news for both Aucklanders and visitors, without putting a financial burden on our ratepayers.”

Green signs saying ‘Free wi-fi here’ will indicate locations where the service is available.
