MC Hammer was in town last week to promote both the upcoming Lips: Number One Hits – featuring his smash single U Can’t Touch This – and also the upcoming Twitter application for Xbox Live. See, Mr Hammer is a bit of a social-networking proponent, and with over 1.6 million followers, he’s the 14th biggest musician on Twitter. It’s a testament to the staying power of the man, almost 20 years after his iconic record Please Hammer, Don’t Hurt ‘Em.

OK, so I didn’t actually meet MC Hammer as such, but the title is more of a pun to go along with the main image (Geddit? My thanks to NetGuide Art Director Tania Matthews for the image). But I did get to sit in on the press conference where Stanley “MC Hammer” Burrell fielded all manner of questions – some good, some downright embarrassing – from a range of local journalists. And for your viewing pleasure, I captured the conference on our Flip Mino HD and uploaded the first seven minutes, including radio personality Dominic Harvey’s onstage rendition of U Can’t Touch This (complete with Hammer pants) as the finale.
