Dishonored reveals all-star cast

This includes Carrie Fisher and Michael Madsen and Academy Award winner Susan Sarandon in her video game debut.

Sarandon is a five-time Oscar nominee, having appeared in such films as Thelma & Louise, The Lovely Bones and Dead Man Walking, and will voice a deranged blind woman in the game. Which I’m sure she will pull off marvellously.

Fisher is obviously most famous for her role as Princess Leia in the original Star Wars trilogy which has made her a nerd-icon, which Michael Madsen is a favourite of Quentin Tarantino who has cast him in Reservoir Dogs and both of the Kill Bill movies.

Names that are perhaps less well-known include Brad Dourif, who received an Oscar nomination for his role in One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest way back in 1975; you will most likely recognise him as Wormtongue from the Lord of the Rings trilogy.

His role in Dishonored is the inventor Piero, who creates the mask worn by the protagonist as well as a host of other gadgets.

For the younger generation (read: anyone who hasn’t seen One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest), young star Chloe Grace Moretz, best known as Hit Girl from Kick-Ass, is also on board for a role.

The game is currently in development by Arkane Studios, and company president Raphael Colantonio says employing strong voice actors is a crucial element of any game.

“Having such talented actors voice Dishonored’s compelling cast of characters adds a rich, powerful element to the game…we want to draw people into this virtual world and make it feel real.”

Bethesda, who are publishing the game, have developed a knack for compiling strong casts of voice actors – Fallout 3 featured Liam Neeson, Malcolm McDowell and Ron Perlman, while Skyrim had stars including Oscar winner Christopher Plummer.

Dishonored is set for release in New Zealand on October 11 on all platforms.
