It’s been revealed that three packs of additional content will be released for Dishonored, the first of which will be out before the end of the year.
The first DLC pack will be called Dishonored: Dunwall City Trials, and will add ten extra challenge maps into the game to test players’ combat, stealth and mobility skills.
Challenges will include fighting off waves of attackers, pulling off assassinations and racing around the city.
There will also be online leaderboards, with new trophies and achievements for high-performers.
Some details for the second DLC pack have also been announced, and will add a new story-driven campaign to the game.
This new story will feature Daud, the leader of supernatural assassin group the Whalers, and will include new weapons, abilities and locations throughout Dunwall.
The third DLC pack remains shrouded in mystery, however it is known that it will also be a story-driven content pack.
It’s become fairly standard these days to release DLC content almost simultaneously with the game itself – but is it good practise? What happened to the days when you bought a game and you got everything that game had to offer, for the price you paid?
Of course there’s an upside – developers can listen to fan feedback and adapt new content accordingly. I’m just not sure this is the approach most are taking for their DLC.
