ER co-stars square off for Jobs role
Mon, 21st Nov 2011
FYI, this story is more than a year old

The competition to play late Apple co-founder Steve Jobs in a biopic based on Walter Isaacson's biography is reportedly down to two former co-stars on popular medical drama ER.

George Clooney, 50, and Noah Wyle, 40, are the current frontrunners for the role, according to the UK's Now magazine.

Both actors played doctors on ER, Clooney from 1994 to 1999 and Wyle from 1994 to 2005. Wyle has also played Jobs before, in 1999 TV movie Pirates of Silicon Valley.

The decision will have to depend in part on what part of Jobs' eventful career the script focuses on; if it's setting up (and being ousted from) Apple, Wyle has the advantage, but if it's the i-era, Clooney could get the call.
