Facebook feeds new news feed to press
Mon, 4th Mar 2013
FYI, this story is more than a year old

Facebook will announce a change to its News Feed this week, at a scheduled media event this coming Thursday.

Founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg will reveal the full details of the move in what will become the company's second high-profile event of the year so far.

Describing it as one of the three "pillars" of service, Facebook's News Feed has not undergone transformation since September 2011.

"We want to make News Feed richer," Zuckerberg told the press.

By making the News Feed "richer" so to speak, Zuckerberg was referring to content which includes photos, videos and animated graphics.

With this in mind it appears users will be allowed the option of posting more of this type of content on the social networking site, possibly opening the door for greater advertising revenue.

The press conference is set for 10am PST time at the company's headquarters in Menlo Park.
