Freelancer.com smashes 8 million user mark

Freelancer.com has broken through the eight million user mark, with the new user total now surpassing the combined value of all its nearest competitors.

The announcement comes the same day the site launched 10 new languages, in Vietnamese, Simplified Chinese, Korean, Russian, Polish, Czech, Bengali, Hindi, Japanese and Romanian, bringing the total to 30 languages.

Currently operating in 234 countries, Freelancer connects small businesses and entrepreneurs with over eight million independent professionals globally, specialising in fields as diverse as information technology, content, website development, marketing, engineering, and medicine.

Over 4.6 million projects in 600 categories of work have been posted to date on the site to date, and have saved western businesses an estimated US$1 billion in costs.
