It's advice Apple may be considering very carefully, as complaints build that while the new iPhone 4S has impressive power, its battery life just doesn't stack up.

Apple's user forums are awash with complaints, criticisms, and queries from customers who aren't achieving the promised battery life.

The Guardian has pinpointed a flaw in Apple's location services system that causes it to continually check the device's time zone.

Other suggestions on the Apple forums include switching off Bluetooth, and disabling the calendar app in the Notifications centre.

However, as one user points out, "What is the purpose of having the iPhone 4S if all the features have to be turned off?

Apple is reportedly working on a fix to iOS 5 which will mitigate the problem; hopefully the update is released in time for the device to hit the market here.
