Its a Wonderful (and big) Life

The convenors of YouTube’s ‘Life in a Day’ project now have a mammoth task on their hands: editing more than 4500 hours of footage.
The project, executive-produced by famed movie director Ridley Scott, asked people around the world to film a snippet of what they were doing on July 24th and upload the videos onto a special YouTube channel.
A total of 80,000 clips were submitted from 197 countries, including 400 from Kiwis. Kevin Macdonald, the Oscar-winning director of films such as The Last King of Scotland, will then edit the most compelling footage into a feature documentary film, assisted by 20 editors and researchers. “It’s a mountain, but we’re eager to climb it,” Macdonald told the New York Times.
Some of the footage will start airing this month at www.youtube. com/lifeinaday. The final film will have its premiere at the Sundance Film Festival and on YouTube in January.
LG Electronics is supporting ‘Life in a Day’ as a key part of its longstanding Life’s Good campaign, and to support the creation of quality online content that can be shared and enjoyed by all.
