FYI, this story is more than a year old

Gaming’s worst wise-cracker and his silent-but-deadly partner are getting a first class upgrade to the PS3, with Naughty Dog officially announcing the upcoming release of the Jak and Daxter Collection.

Naughty Dog co-president Evan Wells announced on the PlayStation blog the February release of Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy, Jak 2 and Jak 3 for the Playstation 3.

Each of the games will be remastered in 720p, will include full PS3 trophy support, and will offer full stereoscopic 3D. The three games will all be crammed onto a single Blu-Ray disc.

While Naughty Dog won’t personally be porting the games to the PS3, Wells says they will be working closely with Mass Media who are dealing with the process of bringing the PS2 games up to standard.

There has been speculation of a potential sequel for the original Jak and Daxter trilogy, especially considering December 4 will mark the 10-year anniversary of the series.

As one of the most successful and enjoyable franchises on the PS2, the porting of Jak and Daxter is something I’ve been looking forward to for a long time.

Will you be rushing out to grab the collection, or has it passed its use-by date? Check out the trailer below and let us know below your thoughts in the comments.
