FYI, this story is more than a year old

According to 1up.com, The Guinness World Records 2011 Gamer's Edition has declared that Microsoft's Kinect peripheral is the fastest-selling consumer-electronics device, having sold over 10 million units and 10 million software units since its launch in November last year.

According to figures cited by Guinness World Records, the 8 million Kinects sold in its first 60 days of sale works out to 133,333 units sold per day, which reportedly outperforms both the iPhone and iPad launches.

"The sales figures here speak for themselves," said Guinness World Records 2011 Gamer's Edition editor Gaz Deaves. "We can confirm that no other consumer electronics device sold faster within a 60-day time span, an incredible achievement considering the strength of the sector."
