FYI, this story is more than a year old

A local smartphone app designed to make travel for New Zealanders more convenient and enjoyable has reached number one in the Apple iTunes store just one week after its official launch.

More than 4500 Kiwis downloaded the House of Travel app during one 24 hour period, taking it to number one in the New Zealand iOS store with thousands more downloading onto Android devices.

According to House of Travel’s head of strategy Niall White, the new travel app is a great tool for customers to go on holiday with, and for House of Travel to take another step into the digital age and continue to remain relevant to the travelling public.

“The new app gives both new and existing customers uninterrupted access to their itinerary and to a raft of exciting travel features," he says.

"It's exciting to see how quickly the market has embraced it and we’re proud to have already secured the top spot on Apple iTunes."

House of Travel has plans in the coming months to roll out new and innovative features to the app which will continue to add huge value when customers are in all stages of their holiday, from the initial planning, booking activities on the go and right through to reviewing and communicating directly with the travel outlet.
