[Update] Telecom is reporting via Twitter a massive outage on the XT Network this morning with no coverage south of Taupo.

Service is being restored and was expected to be fully functioning by 10am, however a Tweet at around 10.20am reported "restoration of cell sites is taking longer than expected, will let you know once we have any further updates".

Spokesperson Nick Brown was not able to offer any further details, but says the company will be issuing a statement soon.
