Mon, 28th Sep 2015
FYI, this story is more than a year old

Maori Television has launched an app to provide Kiwis with access to a range of content, in both Maori and English.

The bilingual mobile app ‘Māori Television Connect' has been designed to support the growing demand for access to content via smartphones, according to a statement.

Paora Maxwell, Maori Television chief executive, says, “The app is a welcomed addition in sharing our content with our audiences, wherever they are and whenever they want to watch us.

Māori Television says it created the app to be primed for smartphones, is multi-functional, and provides a range of content.

The app features latest news from the Māori Television newsroom, on demand shows, user generated content submission, and Maori TV channel schedules.

User content submission provides viewers the opportunity to interact with other viewers and actively contribute to the app.

Maxwell says, “We have provided users with the ability to sign in and connect via the ‘Maori Television share your News' function that enables the submission of videos, photos or text directly to Maori Television."

App users can set the app to Te Reo Maori or English language to view programmes and select the news categories of greatest interest.

Māori Television Connect is available for download from both the Apple App store and Google Play.
