Microsoft apologises for tragic dance routine

Microsoft has issued an apology for a bizarre song and dance routine performed at the company’s Norwegian Developers Conference last week.

The routine, first noted by Geekwire, featured a specially written rap that included lines like ‘we are here to talk software, we’re here to talk bugs, tonight we’re going to party and coding is our drugs’, as well as the unforgettable ‘the words Micro and Soft don’t apply to my penis’.

All the lyrics were displayed on monitors just in case anyone happened to miss anything; the words ‘or vagina’ were even added to the above line in brackets.

Attendees were quick to post videos of the event on YouTube, the negative responses causing Microsoft’s official Windows Azure channel to add apologetic comments.

"This week’s Norwegian Developer’s Conference included a skit that involved inappropriate and offensive elements and vulgar language,” one comment reads.

"We apologize to our customers and our partners and are actively looking into the matter.”

Even Microsoft corporate communications lead, Frank Shaw, has posted a response, tweeting, "This routine had vulgar language, was inappropriate and was just not ok. We apologize to our customers and partners”
