Accounting software vendor MYOB has re-launched two of its accounting tools on a new, more cloud-friendly platform, and introduced a brand new product targeting Mac users, in the culmination of a three-year, $75 million innovation strategy.
Julian Smith, MYOB general manager, says the releases mark the first stage in the establishment of the new MYOB Business Platform.
"The MYOB solutions... are part of our focus on combining the speed and function-rich capability of a desktop application with the connectivity and mobility of the internet,” Smith says.
"As we roll out the MYOB Business Platform and cloud connectivity over the next 12 months, these solutions will offer more choice for business owners in how and where they work, whether it’s from their desktop, in an online environment, or from a mobile device.”
The two products being re-launched, AccountRight Standard and AccountRight Plus, have been fully redeveloped on the .NET SQL codebase, allowing MYOB to make improvements as customers request them.
Meanwhile, the new product, AccountEdge, aims to target Mac users.
"MYOB AccountEdge is designed to operate the way our Mac users do – in highly mobile, flexible working environments, with a focus on accuracy, great presentation and effective business management,” Smith says.
The product also includes free apps for the iPhone and iPad.
"The AccountEdge app is a good example of the way MYOB has approached the next generation of cloud computing, bringing the internet to the device and allowing customers to choose the way they want to operate.”
MYOB AccountRight Standard will retail for $549, while AccountRight Plus and AccountEdge will cost $849.
