NCEA apps updated to include more languages

FYI, this story is more than a year old

The latest version of the NCEA Guide and NCEA Student apps is now available, according NZQA.

The apps are free tools designed to help students, parents, families and employers learn more about NCEA.

Deputy chief executive at the NZQA Richard Thornton says the NCEA Guide App has been very popular.

“The NCEA Guide App is proving valuable in helping parents understand NCEA, and what their children are studying at school,” he says. “Extending its reach into four Pacifika languages will increase its usefulness and align with brochures and videos we produce in the same languages.

The app was originally made available in both English and Te Reo, and the new version provides the same information in Samoan, Tongan, Niuean, and Cook Island Maori.

The NCEA Student App is designed to help students set goals for what they want to achieve in their NCEA courses, and then to track their progress towards those goals as they complete assessments, Thornton explains.

“Because students enter their own assessment result information they get the most up-to-date picture of their current position,” he says.

The apps are designed to complement each other and can be downloaded for free from the Apple App store and Google Play Store.
