New TomTom app takes navigation social

FYI, this story is more than a year old

TomTom has added a new level of social integration to its navigation app for iPhone and iPad, in the new 1.10 version released today.

The app is able to automatically plan routes based on information from Facebook places and events, meaning if you’re heading somewhere that you know is on Facebook, for example a restaurant or a party, you can put that straight into TomTom and it will come up with directions.

You can also search Facebook places if you’re looking for somewhere to eat or stay, navigate to friends’ check-in locations, and even share your destination and arrival time via Facebook, Twitter, email, and SMS text.

At $94.99 the app is pretty pricey, so keep an eye out for our review next week to see whether it’s worth it. Or, if you don’t think you can wait that long, go here to download it and try for yourself.
