The Mac App Store has come under scrutiny once again, this time for the upcoming sandboxing requirement policy. The scrutiny comes as developers realise the deadline is approaching, but developers are still unsure about what the policy means for their apps and are particularly unsure about what kinds of apps will be granted exceptions for things such as access to other parts of the filesystem, or even the location of your Dropbox folder. Reports say Apple are forcing the manufacturer Pegatron Technology to cease production of the Asustek Zenbook, which looks extremely similar to the MacBook Air. 9 to 5 Mac are saying this amounts to Apple telling the manufacturers to choose sides, instead of, say, duking it out in the courts with the manufacturers of the Zenbook. It's definitely one way to force manufacturers to comply with their demands, but I'm not sure it's the right way to go about doing it.
