News: Mountain Lion, 100 million iCloud users, Habitat, and more!
Thu, 16th Feb 2012
FYI, this story is more than a year old

Seemingly out of nowhere, Apple has announced OS X Mountain Lion and its associated developer preview. OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion is due out sometime later this year, and it brings a few new features from iOS to the Mac. Examples of this include iMessage in the form of Messages, Notes, Reminders, and even Notification Center. It's perhaps too early to tell the effect this will have on third-party apps (Growl), but I'm guessing it probably won't be all that positive. Apple CEO Tim Cook has announced via a Goldman Sachs Technology and Internet conference that there are now over 100 million iCloud users, which marks 15 million user growth in the period since the last time these numbers were called, just 21 days after their Q1 earnings call a few weeks ago.

When it comes to building interactive books (educational or otherwise), it's hard to go past a tool like iBooks Author. All that might change, hover, with the release of the new Habitat publishing platform, which provides cross-platform compatibility by using web-based resources for larger-scale commercial projects.
