Nokia’s back at it again with the brick phone. And it has snake.

FYI, this story is more than a year old

HMD Global, the home of Nokia phones, has unveiled a new flock of smartphones at Mobile World Congress, as well as announcing it is relaunching the famous Nokia 3310 – one of the best-selling feature phones of all time.

Not sure what's more exciting really – a family of new smartphones or the rebirth of that iconic Nokia phone the world drooled over way back when.

While in New Zealand, Kiwis had a love affair with the Nokia 2280, with a 30-day battery life and the best game phone of all time, Snake, I think the 3310 might take the cake over some run-of-the-mill smartphones (go iPhone or go home, really).

This time round, Nokia has given the 3310 a modern twist with a fresh, colourful design available in four colours - Warm Red and Yellow, both with a gloss finish, and Dark Blue and Grey both with a matte finish.

Remember when you didn't have to charge your phone every night? Well, the new 3310 will have a 22-hour talk time and boast a month-long standby battery time. Yes please.

The phone will have 16MB of storage, and a crappy camera at 2 megapixels. But you get what you pay for, as the new 3310 will only set you back $71.

Now, on to the smartphones.

Nokia unveiled a portfolio featuring three new smartphones, the Nokia 6, Nokia 5 and the Nokia 3.

Each phone will run Android Nougat and feature Google Assistant, a first outside of Google branded devices.

““Consumers today are seeking relationships with brands that they can trust. The Nokia brand has over 150 years of heritage giving it an authentic, differentiating experience which we are proud to introduce to a new generation of fans,” says Pekka Rantala, chief marketing officer of HMD Global.

“Our new Android Nokia smartphone portfolio, together with the return of the iconic Nokia 3310, is a real statement of our ambition and commitment to honouring the hallmarks of a true Nokia phone experience.
