Not long now until Apple Watch time

KGI Securities analyst Ming Chi Kuo expects the Apple Watch to go on sale this coming March, and predicts 2.8 million Apple Watch units in Q1 2015.

Along with the Apple Watch, Kuo says Apple will also look to launch its news 12-inch MacBook Air during the quarter. The iPhone shipments would beat expectations for Q1 2015 with more than 61 million units shipped, while iPad shipments are expected to total 10 million units.

Kuo expects Apple to reveal extra details about the Apple Watch before it is officially launched, such as specs on battery life.

Most components of the Apple Watch will see high shipments during the quarter, but other key components are expected to see low production yields which may cause a constrained supply.

At the end of November last year, Apple released WatchKit, software that gives developers a set of tools to easily create experiences designed specifically for Apple Watch.

Kuo’s prediction falls in line with earlier reports Apple was looking at a March debut, although Apple has yet to publicly announce a specific release date other than ‘early 2015’.

Kuo says the 12-inch MacBook Air is expected to feature a new ultra-thin, fan-less design with a high resolution Retina display and will run Intel’s Core M chip and high resolution Retina display.

The 12-inch MacBook Air is expected to feature a new ultra-thin, fan-less design with a high-resolution Retina display and a low-power Intel Core M processor.
