Ratchet & Clank to receive HD treatment
Fri, 16th Mar 2012
FYI, this story is more than a year old

With the release of the Jak & Daxter collection last week some of you might still be collecting Precursor Orbs, but a post on the PlayStation blog says one of Jak’s greatest rivals is on his way.

The post, from Insomniac CEO Ted Price, says that with the 10-year anniversary of Ratchet & Clank on the way, they’re celebrating in style by releasing yet another HD Collection.

As with the J & D makeover, the re-mastered 1080p Ratchet & Clank collection will contain all three games from the original trilogy, Ratchet & Clank, Going Commando, and Up Your Arsenal, on one blu-ray disc.

If there’s one thing I’ve been loving lately it’s these HD remakes of PS2 games – the God of War series, Ico and Shadow of the Colossus, Jak and Daxter, and now Ratchet & Clank. It’s like being 13 again.

The HD Collection of Ratchet’s adventures will also include the multi-player battles from Up Your Arsenal online, a feature many seasoned fans won’t have experienced on the PS2.

The Ratchet & Clank series first hit the PS2 back in 2002, and has since become one of the most popular platformers of all time with sharp dialogue, colourful worlds to explore and of course some of the biggest guns to ever grace a television screen.

The HD Collection will be released in  Europe in the northern Spring and the US a few months later.

Are there any games you’d like to see coming back from the dead to your PS3? Final Fantasy X is set for re-release later this year, but I’d like to see some other classics – how about trophy support and some hi-def blood-splatters for Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas? Let us know if there’s something you’d like to see in the comments below.
