FYI, this story is more than a year old

www.bookcrossing.com is a great site designed to help book lovers share their love of books with like-minded souls all over the world. There’s a twist, however. Those who participate never meet each other. Rather, www.bookcrossing.com encourages members to leave books in conspicuous public places – on the bus, in the park, or in a restaurant. When a random stranger picks up and opens the planted book they are greeted by a note saying ‘I’m not lost! I’m a travelling book!’, urging the recipient to visit www.bookcrossing.com, log the book in their database and participate in their ‘read and release’ scheme. Brilliant. (There’s also a Yahoo group for New Zealand fans).www.bookcrossing.com
