Ubisoft has announced that Red Steel 2 for Nintendo Wii will be available from March 26 in Europe and March 23 in the US.

The original was a highly anticipated launch title for Nintendo’s motion-controlled console, but it did not enjoy the expected critical acclaim upon release. Many critics cited the Wii’s lack of “true” motion control as the major stumbling block for the first-person shooter/slasher, which allowed the player to wield swords using the Wii Remote.

The sequel, however, has been developed in conjunction with Nintendo’s Motion Plus peripheral, which adds a gyroscope to the Wii Remote and delivers a deeper and more realistic motion control experience.

The New Zealand release date is likely to coincide with that of the European release date, although nothing has been confirmed at the time of writing.
