Review: Altec Lansing T612 Speaker Dock

The T612’s big claim to fame in the overly busy world of iPod Speaker docks is that it’s iPhone compatible, both for charging and taking calls in between all that musical japery.

Pros: Many speaker docks will work with the iPhone for sound, but have no shielding for when calls come in, which can lead to a lot of interference noise; the T612 neatly dodges this. It also acts as a neat hands-free kit for taking calls.

Cons: At top volume, we did notice some speaker distortion, as well as going partially deaf. At $480, there are plenty of other less expensive options.

Verdict: A great dock for showing off your shiny new iPhone 3G, but otherwise a bit too costly.
