Review: Corel MediaOne Plus
Sat, 1st Nov 2008
FYI, this story is more than a year old

MediaOne Plus is Corel’s stab at a media management and mild photo editing application. It can perform photo enhancement, organise multimedia libraries and back up the whole lot to DVDor online.

Pros: The interface is one of the easiest we’ve seen for an application of this type, and while some of the photo editing tools are rather simplistic (Corel would rather you bought Paint Shop Pro Photo X2, clearly), they work quite well. And as dull as it is, everyone should back up their data, and anything that encourages that should be congratulated.

Cons: In some ways, MediaOne Plus’ light touch on most tasks left us unsatisfied; we’d rather pay a bit more for a package with some real grunt - perhaps embedded within PSP X2 - than the light tools on offer here. As with most online download services, you’ll also have to keep an eye on your data usage if you’re on a limited download broadband plan.

Verdict: A good, albeit lightweight package.
