Review: Iomega Media Xporter

The Media XPorter is another in a long line of portable external hard drives. In the XPorter’s case, it sells itself as a mediadrive for owners of PS3 or Xbox 360 consoles.

Pros: Media conversion software is included, in case your files aren’t natively compatible. The slim casing sits well beside either console and is easy enough to throw onto any nearby PC as well.

Cons: You’ve got to download the software. As a base hard drive, the XPorter’s performance was acceptable, but not stunning, and the fact that it needs two USB ports to power up properly is annoying - especially with the Xbox 360, which only has two to spare.

Verdict: A decent drive, but cheaper options abound.
