The Trax 436 is a 4.3-inch Widescreen GPS unit with Bluetooth and 3D terrain, and specific landmarks that pop up out of the map while you’re driving.
Pros: Signal lock-on was speedy, and the basic interface offers a lot of onscreen information. The holding bracket was both secure and simple to remove for security.
Cons: The pop-up antenna is a bit annoying to use. The information-heavy interface uses rather small buttons, which would be dangerous to try to use while driving. The spoken voice is capable, but very robotic. The landmarks feature is cute on paper, but not particularly practical – by the time it’s up onscreen, you can usually see the landmark itself out the window.
Verdict: A capable and information-rich GPS.
