Microsoft's new flagship phones, the 950 and 950 XL, are reportedly coming later this year and will feature wireless charging and an iris scanner.

Windows Central, which has dubbed the phones Talkman and Cityman, says the devices will likely launch at the IFA, the trade show for consumer electronics and home appliances taking place in Berlin this September. They will then be rolled out in October and November in time for the Christmas season.

Both smartphones are said to support Qi wireless charging and feature an infrared iris scanner for Windows Hello to enable users to unlock the device is less than one second.

Windows Hello is a biometric authentication that provides instant access to Windows 10 devices. Microsoft's system enables users to authenticate applications, enterprise content and certain online experiences.

The Lumia 950 XL will also come with an optional surface pen stylus that can be attached to a smart cover.

The optional smart cover accessory, which is optimised for both devices, will contain a round cutout for viewing calls and notifications, according to reports.

The Microsoft Continuum feature will allow owners of Lumia 950 and 950 XL to use the handsets like a PC by connecting to a docking station that will come with support for display ports, mouse and keyboard.

These two phones will also feature USB Type-C and come in matte white or black polycarbonate.

Multiple sources have hinted that the phones will feature a 20MP rear camera and aluminium side volume and power control buttons.

The 950 will reportedly have a 5.2 inch 2K display with 2560x1440 pixels of resolution and be powered by a 3,000mAh battery, 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor. It will have 3GB RAM, 32GB internal storage and a MicroSD card slot for expansion of internal storage.

The larger 950 XL will have a mostly similar range of specifications. It will have a larger 5.7 inch display, an octa-core Snapdragon 810 processor and a 3,300mAh battery.

Both of the phones are said to run Windows 10 Mobile, which is expected to launch in September following the launch of the PC version of the operating system.

Microsoft is yet to release an official statement about the phones.
