Samsung New Zealand has announced its ATIV Smart PC and ATIV Smart PC Pro based on Windows 8.

Launched today, the electronics giant says the new products can easily transform from a traditional clamshell notebook PC to a tablet PC device with just the click of a button, maximising both productivity and mobility.

“We are delighted to launch our new Windows 8 based Smart PC and Smart PC Pro. Together with Microsoft, we are able to provide customers with beautiful design, powerful performance and ease of use,” says Todd Selwyn, Samsung New Zealand group product manager.

Smart PC and Smart PC Pro

Combining the power of a notebook PC and the convenience of a tablet PC, the 11.6-inch Smart PC and Smart PC Pro are Samsung’s next set of smart devices.

Providing Windows 8 functionality as well as full Windows 7 compatibility, the company says each device features a detachable keyboard-docking system, allowing users to easily switch between a notebook PC and a tablet PC.

An advanced 10-finger multi-touch screen surpasses the traditional two-finger touch features with enhanced sensitivity allowing users to pinch-to-zoom, rotate images and scroll through pages.

The products are only 9.9mm and 11.9mm thick, with the Smart PC holding a battery life of up to 13.5 hours, whereas its stronger sister device, the Smart PC Pro, runs up to eight hours.

The Samsung ATIV Smart PC is available today from NZ$1,299 with the ATIV Smart PC Pro available from November for NZ$1,999.
