Samsung took a big gamble when it released its Galaxy Note, the hefty smartphone/tablet crossover that used a stylus as an input device, with many critics seeing the stylus as a dated throwback and the in-between size as awkward for holding and slipping into pockets.
However, the company has been marketing the device hard – even promoting it with a Superbowl commercial that was the culmination of a campaign mocking Apple that dated back several months – and it seems it’s paying off.
Samsung has announced on its Korean website that 5 million Galaxy Note devices have been sold around the world since its launch in September last year, proving that the pundits don’t always get it right.
Have you picked up a Galaxy Note? Are you surprised it’s sold 5 million - or that it hasn’t sold more? Post your comments below.
